Trick or treating Android Emoji keyboard app makes millions of unauthorized purchases

$18 million of fraudulent charges from the app blocked by malware security platform Secure-D

London, October 31, 2019 – A popular Android keyboard app, ai.type, downloaded more than 40 million times and included in the Google Play app store, has been caught making millions of unauthorized purchases of premium digital content, researchers at mobile technology company Upstream report. The app has been delivering millions of invisible ads and fake clicks, while delivering genuine user data about real views, clicks and purchases to ad networks. ai.type carries out some of its activity hiding under other identities[1], including disguising itself to spoof popular apps such as Soundcloud. The app’s tricks have also included a spike in suspicious activity once removed from the Google Play store.

ai.type

ai.type

The Upstream Secure-D mobile security platform has so far detected and blocked more than 14 million suspicious transaction requests from only 110,000 unique devices that downloaded the ai.type keyboard. If not blocked these transaction requests would have triggered the purchase of premium digital services, potentially costing users up to $18 million in unwanted charges. The suspicious activity has been recorded across 13 countries but was particularly high in Egypt and Brazil.

ai.type is disguised as a free treat for mobile users. It is a customizable on-screen keyboard app developed by Israeli firm ai.type LTD, which describes the app as a “Free Emoji Keyboard”. Despite the fact that the app was removed from Google Play in June 2019, the app remains on millions of Android devices and is still available from other Android marketplaces. Shortly after the removal from Google Play, in July 2019, suspicious activity spiked exponentially for a two-month period. It has since remained high, though in lower volumes than during the summer spike.

Upstream CEO, Guy Krief, commented: “Malware can be responsible for creating millions of dollars of fraudulent mobile advertising revenue. It seriously impacts consumers’ pockets and mobile service experience by eating up their data, incurring unwanted charges, and affecting the performance of their phones.

“The mobile advertising fraud market is worth some $40bn annually. In any given market one in ten devices are infected with malware. Dressing up to appear as legitimate and often popular applications, undetected malware damages the industry’s reputation, leaving mobile operators and their customers to pick up the tab.”

Head of Secure-D at Upstream, Dimitris Maniatis, explains more about how the app tricks users: “ai.type contains software development kits (SDKs) with hardcoded links to ads and subscribes users to premium services without their consent. These SDKs navigate to the ads via a series of redirections and automatically perform clicks to trigger the subscriptions. This is committed in the background so that normal users will not realize it is taking place. In addition, the SDKs obfuscate the relevant links and download additional code from external sources to complicate detection even from sophisticated analysis techniques. Bottom line: innocent users are paying for these hidden, unauthorized purchases and related data consumption whose source is buried in the app.”

Upstream is advising all consumers who have downloaded ai.type to check their phones for unusual behavior. Users should regularly check their phones and remove any reported malware. They should also check their bills for unwanted or unexpected charges for accessing premium data services and to look out for signs of increased data usage which could indicate a malicious app is consuming data in the background.

Upstream works directly with mobile operators to pro-actively safeguard their subscribers against fraud on their mobile devices – and currently protects tens of millions of mobile users worldwide. Its Secure-D anti-fraud platform uses machine learning algorithms to determine the transactions that are most likely to be fraudulent and uses behavioral patterns to detect anomalies and unwanted transaction patterns. In 2018 alone, Upstream processed more than 1.8 billion mobile transactions, identified more than 30 million infected devices, and blocked more than 63,000 malicious apps with Secure-D.

HYLA Mobile: Mobile trade-in programs return $637 million to US consumers in Q3 2019

Apple devices dominated trade-ins in Q3, with iPhones accounting for 8 of the top 10 devices traded-in

31 October 2019HYLA Mobile, the world’s leading provider of software technology and services for mobile device returns management and reuse solutions, today announces findings from its Q3 2019 trade-in trends report. The report reveals that over $637 million ($637,649,694) was returned to US consumers in Q3 via trade-in programs—an increase of nearly 40% from the previous quarter.

Each quarter, HYLA uses data from its own analytics solution and combines this with live market data to reveal the latest trends for the North American mobile devices market. Key findings from HYLA’s Q3 trade-in trends report includes:

  • iPhones accounted for 8 of the top 10 devices traded-in in Q3 of this year. The top traded device was the iPhone 7, followed by the iPhone 6s, iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone 6, iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone 8, Galaxy S7, iPhone X and Galaxy S8.

  • While the average age of an iPhone at trade-in was 3.14 years, the iPhone 8 Plus is quickly making its way up the ranks and was the fifth most popular device traded-in in Q3. The iPhone 8 Plus was released in September 2017—showing that some consumers are departing with their devices after two years.

  • The average age of an Android smartphone at trade-in was under the three-year mark, at 2.79 years.

  • The iPhone XS Max received the highest trade-in value at $523.18. The Galaxy Note10+ 5G followed with a trade-in value of $500.

  • Device trade-in values were higher all round in Q3. The average trade-in value for a smartphone in Q3 was $99.07, up from $94.78 in Q2; the average trade-in value for an Android device was $68.01, up $6 from last quarter ($62.25 in Q2); and the average trade-in value for an iPhone was $164.08, up from $163.46 in Q2.

“Q3 is typically a big quarter for trade-ins. With major OEMs holding their annual launch events, we often see consumers turn to trade-in programs to upgrade to the brand-new devices that come to market,” said Biju Nair, President and CEO of HYLA Mobile. “But while each quarter we are seeing trade-ins grow, consumers aren’t always getting the maximum value for their devices. By trading in devices earlier—as we are starting to see with the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus—consumers can get more money for their old devices, which can be used to off-set the price of a new device, making it much more affordable. By trading in a 12-18 month-old device while upgrading to the iPhone 11, consumers cut their upgrade cost by 50% while getting a superior device. There’s also huge potential for an operator, OEM or retailer to take this relatively new device and give it a second life—and realize additional revenue.”

According to analyst firm CCS Insights, shipments of 5G devices have gotten off to a slower start than expected, but the company sees a growth trajectory from 2020 and beyond. History has shown that with each introduction of a new ‘G’, the smartphone market sees significant boosts in device sales.

“As consumers’ awareness and understanding of 5G grows, we are likely to see demand for 5G devices rise. But 5G devices will not come cheap, either. Trade-ins are becoming a critical component in the consumers decision making process and being able to use these programs to offset costs will be even more important over the next months as more 5G devices come to market.”

“Ultimately, operators, retailers and OEMs can benefit from educating consumers on the benefits of regular device trade-ins programs and make them aware of the value their devices hold. If customers truly understood the value of their devices, I believe we could break the three-year hold cycle sooner, rather than later,” added Nair.

Rajant and MultiWireless to Highlight Industrial Wireless Network for Port-Wide Mobility and Autonomy at TOC Americas 2019

Rajant’s Kinetic Mesh® is an essential asset for mission-critical, mobile port operations

Malvern, PA – October 29, 2019: Future automation of seaport operations will be a key highlight at TOC Americas, where Rajant Corporation and its distributor, MultiWireless, will showcase the latest industrial wireless network advances supporting seaport operators to automate operations. Their co-exhibition will take place at Stand B18, at TOC Americas, in Cartagena, Columbia from Tuesday, October 29th to Thursday, October 31st, 2019. Together, they will share how Rajant’s secure and resilient Kinetic Mesh is providing ubiquitous, port-wide mobility and unmatched network resiliency – both of which are needed to enable reliable, efficient autonomous processes.

Rajant’s Kinetic Mesh BreadCrumb® nodes can hold multiple connections simultaneously over multiple frequencies while working peer-to-peer to form connections with other nodes as they move in range. No controller node is needed, so there is no single point of failure. This is key to mobile operations and unmatched by other network providers.

Rajant Kinetic Mesh is powered by the InstaMesh® protocol. Its networking protocol works in real-time to analyze and select the fastest path for delivery at any given time. If a connection becomes unavailable or blocked, for example, by a metal container, InstaMesh will dynamically route communications via the next-best available path to maintain the ultra-reliable, low-latency performance autonomous systems demand.

According to Juan Carlos Calle Aleman, Executive Director at MultiWireless, “It has been proven by various success stories that Rajant is the perfect and ideal solution for the industrial market of moving assets. One of these markets is the port industry, where rubber tired gantry (RTG) cranes, ship-to-ship (STS), reach stackers and other equipment are always in motion. As these are pivotal to port operations, it is required that elements are interconnected intelligently through a reliable network that is auto-adaptable to changes and supports mobility above all. Our presence at TOC Americas will allow Rajant, along with MultiWireless as an Authorized Kinetic Mesh Distributor, to showcase to participants a wireless telecommunications platform that will allow optimized transportation of all the critical applications for the operation of ports. This includes, but is not limited to, the terminal operating system (TOS), crane remote monitoring, reefer management, access control, and push-to-talk (PTT) over IP.”

In closing, Rajant’s VP of Business Development in Latin America, Sagar Chandra, added: “Often in port operations, one path can become blocked. Rajant’s wireless mesh technology has machine learning capabilities that can identify and route port communications via the best available option by overcoming any obstruction instantaneously and autonomously. On-the-go connectivity is a fundamental necessity for port operators who are reliant on wireless systems and is why a solution that can overcome interference from rival port operators and ships coming into the port is key.”

Zylpha Introduces Greenwoods GRM to Document Bundling Environment

Top 200 Law firm Greenwoods GRM LLP has chosen Electronic Document Bundling from Zylpha (www.zylpha.com) for use with its existing Visualfiles case management software. By automating the bundling process with Zylpha, the practice can save considerable time and resources, allowing its staff to spend more time with clients handling their cases.

Greenwoods GRM

Greenwoods GRM

Greenwoods GRM has a strong reputation for delivering high quality legal services, combined with a personal and pragmatic approach to complex legal problems. The practice’s highly respected team strives to deliver efficient top quality services to all its clients. Electronic document bundling is one area where the practice saw an opportunity to enhance existing processes. The creation of manual bundles takes a great deal of preparation time, time that could be better used on supporting their clients’ best interests. Automating this process would free up much of that time.

Used in conjunction with LexisNexis Visualfiles, Zylpha’s Electronic Bundling software contains everything that Greenwoods GRM needs to create the highest quality document bundles. It can be accessed from a single-view dashboard-like screen, which makes it clear, concise and easy to use when creating even the largest most detailed bundles. This is because the system’s unique single-view digital approach streamlines and simplifies the arrangement and pagination of documents, saving a considerable amount of time and removing any complexity involved. The system is also widely acclaimed for its advanced security.

And by using Zylpha’s digital document bundling in conjunction with Visualfiles case management software, Greenwoods GRM can now produce bundles at a fraction of the cost, time and effort that it previously took using manual processes. What previously took hours now takes just minutes. Typically, Zylpha bundling delivers time savings of over 80% when compared to traditional manual alternatives. Additionally, Zylpha’s bundling system eliminates costs such as stationery, photocopying, paper file-storage, maintenance and courier charges.

According to Jackie Wood, Head of IT at Greenwoods GRM, Zylpha makes a real difference. “By automating document bundling, in conjunction with our Visualfiles case management system, we have reduced bundling preparation processes from hours to minutes. The time we have saved can then be spent with our clients. In addition, we have also reduced the physical amount of paper used and storage required. These are significant benefits.”

For his part Tim Long CEO of Zylpha welcomed Jackie’s comments adding, “Greenwoods GRM prides itself on the relationship it has with its clients. These are lawyers that clients enjoy working with. By dramatically reducing the amount of time spent on creating complex legal document bundles, Greenwoods GRM are able to devote even more time to client cases. We are delighted to hear that Zylpha has made such a clear difference and this is great news both for the practice’s staff and for its clients too.”

Gaist set to revolutionise utilities sector with mapping technology

Using Gaist’s unique technology, utility providers can maintain existing infrastructure with the opportunity for further innovation

Skipton, UK, 28 October 2019: Providing the ever-increasing services demanded by a growing population cannot be achieved using existing UK infrastructure, warned Gaist Head of Business Development Ian Job today.

“There are over 800,000km of sewer and water supply pipes in the UK that have an estimated average age of 70 years. One of the biggest challenges facing the utilities sector right now is that this ageing infrastructure needs to be upgraded and replaced to provide Britain’s population with the services they will need,” said Job.

Job highlighted that significant innovation in key areas will be vital for supporting the sector as it moves towards future technologies such as smart cities and smart grids and to meet cost and commercial challenges.

“A key focus for Gaist is supporting providers as they move through this process. Making projects more efficient – from the office or onsite – is really important to us and we think it is crucial to get work right first time, to minimise disruption,” continued Job.

Job added, “With an increasing focus on green technologies and initiatives, we want to reduce the effects that this work has on the surrounding environment so that as little time as possible is spent disturbing the highway and causing disruption to the public, while helping to ensure works are completed to the required standards. Having the tools that Gaist provides is absolutely necessary to be able to achieve this.”

Gaist’s unique digital twin of the UK’s road and pathways infrastructure creates a complete and precise view of the highway network, allowing utility providers to plan and execute projects with an extensive knowledge of their working environment, without the need for costly on-site surveys.

Delivering surveys and professional services to over 30 Local Authorities, Gaist has been referenced for its innovative technologies several times in the House of Commons Transport Committee report: Local roads funding and maintenance: filling the gap. In the past, utilities providers relied on visual inspection but now, with the tools provided by Gaist, providers are able to have an in-depth knowledge and analysis of the state of the road from their computer before any projects commence.

Job noted that whilst Gaist’s technologies have been widely utilised by Local Authorities and highway companies over the past decade, Gaist is now focused on breaking into the utilities and telecoms sectors and providing this industry with the same benefits that others have seen.

“We are well established in the highways and government sector now and we will look to continue this into the future. With ever-increasing demands being placed on utility providers, now is the opportune time for Gaist to expand into other areas and the utilities industry is at a perfect stage where our technology can do a lot to support their work and reduce costs” concluded Job.

A growing population, coupled with next-generation technologies enabling the future of smart cities, means that demands placed on utility providers are not likely to subside. With Gaist’s technologies, utility providers are able to utilise the solutions that have paved the way in the highways sector to provide their customers with the services that they require, both now and in the future.

Blancco Announces Mobile Diagnostics Innovation to Radically Speed Used Device Processing and Secure Data Erasure

New app-free deep diagnostics and AI-powered screen crack detection create industry’s most advanced, fastest and secure device processing solution

Los Angeles – October 23, 2019Blancco Technology Group (LON: BLTG), the industry standard in data erasure and mobile device diagnostics, announced a major update to its Blancco Mobile Diagnostics and Erasure (BMDE) solution at Mobile World Congress Los Angeles 2019 today, making it the fastest and most efficient used device processing method available for mobile carriers, mobile processors, 3PLs, and device repair and recycling operators. The powerful new features in BMDE 4.1 will deliver never-before-seen levels of speed for diagnosing the condition of the used device and securely erasing data – key benefits in advance of the surge of used mobile devices expected to hit the marketplace as consumers upgrade to 5G-enabled devices.

BMDE 4.1 incorporates multiple performance innovations and end-to-end lean processing capabilities that will fundamentally change the mobile diagnostics and erasure function, increasing the speed and efficiency of the entire diagnostics and erasure process. Processors and 3PLs will now be able to access, evaluate and securely erase personal data from used devices without the need to install a separate app. This will drastically reduce the time required to securely process each device from the current 12 to 15 minutes per device by up to 50%.

Blancco is also introducing new AI capabilities that determine the condition of the device screen more quickly and assesses damage using a cracked glass detection process that utilizes a device’s own camera to look for screen deficiencies. The images are then sent to the cloud where AI technology quickly evaluates the device for cracks and other damage. This new capability will give carriers and mobile device insurance providers the ability to assess the condition of a used device more quickly, as well as improve fraud detection. Not only does the cracked glass detection feature provide a new customer touchpoint for carriers and operators, it also enhances the customer trade-in experience and increases consumer confidence when purchasing second-hand mobile devices.

“We anticipate that subscriber demand for 5G devices will be a major turning point for the new and second-hand smartphone market as consumers who are currently holding out for the new devices take the plunge,” said Russ Ernst, EVP, Products & Technology, Blancco, “In recent device releases, consumers haven’t seen a tremendous amount of innovation in mobile device features that would entice them to upgrade. With the expectations around 5G growing and an increasing number of 5G devices hitting the marketplace, the speed and accuracy of device processing and secure data erasure will be critical to address the upcoming deluge of used devices and an increased risk of data mismanagement.”

According to a recent Counterpoint Research study, 85% of consumers are waiting for 5G to buy a new device. Moreover, the study states that consumers increasingly consider the ability to trade in their old devices at the point of upgrade as they make new device decisions. Over the last 12-18 months, the secondary device market has played a pivotal role in driving affordability for high-end smartphones.

Secure device erasure is a critical part of processing old devices before being resold. With the added speed provided by BMDE 4.1, 3PLs and operators will be able to not only diagnose the health of hundreds of device trade-ins in minimal time, they also can more quickly erase consumer data that remains whether the owner “wipes” the device or not.

Ernst added, “With the diagnostics process becoming increasingly complex and with the tremendous growth of the secondary device ecosystem, it’s more important than ever for 3PLs and processors to maintain consumer trust in the process. Trust is critical for the success of the used smartphone market, and BMDE will speed the diagnostic and erasure process without cutting corners.”

Blancco will be demonstrating the most innovative BMDE 4.1 features at Mobile World Congress Los Angeles 2019 at the JW Marriott in Hall Marriott Stand Studio II.

One-time security installations are not enough to protect mobile devices against growing threats, says TCG

Los Angeles, California, October 22, 2019 – Mobile device designers and operating system manufacturers need to provide a strong foundation for secure software and firmware updates throughout the lifetime of products – not just at the start, Ira McDonald, Co-Chair of Trusted Computing Group’s (TCG) Trusted Mobility Solutions Work Group said today.

Speaking as Mobile World Congress Americas takes place, McDonald stressed that embedded systems designers cannot assume that their firmware and software will remain pristine and must plan for ways to detect and recover firmware and software compromise.

Trusted Computing Group logo

Trusted Computing Group logo

“The growing trend for greater connectivity, driven by functionality and convenience is putting mobile devices at risk of exploitation and making them more vulnerable to attacks,” said McDonald. “As security threats become more sophisticated, mobile device designers and operating system manufacturers will need to ensure they have proactive protection plans in place that can evolve throughout the product’s lifecycle and quickly respond to new threats as they emerge.”

The TCG Mobile Platform Work Group is building momentum for lifetime security in mobile devices with its TCG Runtime Integrity Protections in Mobile Devices Family “2.0” Reference Document, which has been submitted for public review.

In the reference document TCG outlines best practices for runtime monitoring and integrity preservation, encouraging device manufacturers and operating system manufacturers to consider TCG technologies to provide the necessary foundation for the security of the mobile devices long after they have been shipped.

According to McDonald, Runtime Integrity Preservation addresses things like mobile devices that don’t get rebooted for months at a time and ensures that the code remains unmodified – particularly those code regions identified by policies to be protected.

“Increasingly sophisticated network connectivity in mobile devices enables advanced feature sets, increased awareness and response, and faster patching and updating of system firmware and software,” said McDonald. “It also introduces new attack surfaces and potential issues that never previously existed in these mobile platforms.”

As with many cybersecurity problems, McDonald continued, no one solution can address the many attack techniques that attackers can employ. Instead, a ‘defense in depth’ approach is needed – mobile devices must be capable of being updated, even after they have been compromised.

As a result, McDonald emphasized that multiple cybersecurity countermeasures must be deployed to ensure that attacks are prevented. Attackers try to find and exploit the weakest link, so all the steps in the product update development and deployment process must be properly protected.

The core message of the TCG Runtime Integrity Protections in Mobile Devices Family “2.0” Reference Document is to ensure that the local device itself uses hardware assistance from the CPU to check that key regions of the operating system kernel and the drivers have not been modified and to provide recommendations about how to do that.

“In order to keep mobile devices secure, the designers of these systems must assess all of the attacks that they must resist and the consequences of a successful attack,” McDonald added. “The risk assessment can help designers to weigh the costs and benefits of the various firmware and software update approaches and choose an approach that provides adequate protection for their system.”

NGMN Alliance White Paper addresses Continuous Delivery in Telecommunication Network Environments

Using practical experience gained from Deutsche Telekom and SK Telecom test and production environments, the NGMN White Paper presents a concept to tackle the so-called ‘air gap’ challenge

Frankfurt, Germany, 21 October 2019: The Next Generation Mobile Networks (NGMN) Alliance has today published its ‘Continuous Delivery in Telecommunication Network Environments’ White Paper, setting out concepts to tackle the ‘air gap’ challenge.

The telecommunications industry is undergoing a fundamental transformation to become more software-centric and cloud-based, paving the way towards a more agile service environment and higher operational automation. On the journey to DevOps, through applying practices such as Continuous Integration (CI) and Continuous Delivery (CD), network operators at some point in time hit a challenge described in the White Paper as the ‘air gap’.

Caused by the fact that production networks are strictly segregated from test networks and development environment networks for security and operational reasons, this gap between CI automation in one network zone and deployment automations in other network zones hinders seamless CD automation. Solving the ‘air gap’ challenge is therefore an important step in the evolution towards true continuous deployment.

Using findings gained in recent projects, including DevOps practices from Deutsche Telekom (DT) and SK Telecom (SKT) including feedback from more than 25 NGMN Mobile Network Operators, the White Paper lays out the practical experience gained from automating the delivery chain for multiple applications, complemented by mapping the concept to a technology stack.

“This project has reinforced the importance of industry collaboration to expand and evolve telecommunications networks with a view to providing continuous deployment,” said Peter Meissner, CEO of NGMN. “Collaboration is key not just for NGMN but for the whole industry. To address the ‘air gap’ as well as other complex issues that operators face, stakeholders must combine skills, knowledge and resources to maintain advancements in the mobile ecosystem.”

“It is imperative that we move automation out of the advanced technology space and into production. As an industry, we must address the challenges that are hindering this progress,” said, Walter Goldenits, Chief Technology Officer, Telekom Deutschland, Deutsche Telekom. “The concepts explored in this White Paper are gained from practical experience and are intended now for alignment in industry activities around service orchestration and automation. I therefore encourage all interested parties to read and provide feedback to the White Paper.”

“Our ongoing work to identify new solutions that address the air gap challenge will prove critical as the industry undergoes a revolution towards DevOps practices,” said Kangwon Lee, VP & Head of Cloud Labs, ICT R&D Center, SK Telecom. “The industry is moving towards increased operational automation and a more agile service environment, but the change is not just about the technology – it is also about culture and methodologies. This NGMN White Paper is a key stage in the process.”

The White Paper presents the following key aspects:

  • Outlines the target scenario for CD in telecommunication network environments

  • Identifies key concepts for a model-based and reusable solution

  • Examines various aspects of lifecycle management, putting CD into an even larger context

NGMN considers to initiate a project to further evolve the concept proposed in this White Paper jointly with industry stakeholders.

NGMN welcomes feedback from all interested parties on this White Paper and the evolution towards true continuous deployment.

ZTE hosts Global Wireless User Congress and 5G Summit in Vienna

22 October 2019 - Vienna, Austria ZTE Corporation (0763.HK / 000063.SZ), a major international provider of telecommunications, enterprise and consumer technology solutions for the Mobile Internet, today has hosted its Global Wireless User Congress and 5G Summit in Vienna, Austria.

During this event, the participants experienced internet surfing, high quality video and other services. The audiences also witnessed more than 1Gbps ultra-fast MBB using 80Mhz spectrum. Thanks to the long-term cooperation between ZTE Corporation and Hutchison Drei Austria, all were demonstrated in the live5G network.

At the event, ZTE and Drei Austria also jointly demonstrated the industry's first end-to-end network slicing operation. By means of customized slicing, the operator's transformation from single B2C traffic operation to B2B, B2B2C and B2B2B slicing operation made it possible to deeply integrate 5G with vertical industries and thoroughly explore 5G value.

One smart bionic mechanical dog equipped with 5G CPE for data connection showed different potential application scenarios, such as rescuing, security patrol, home guard and more. Together with 8k UHD video, drone and high-speed download services, a panoramic view of the future life with 5G was shaped.

“ZTE and Drei Austria have been long-term strategic partners for 10 years already. The 2/3/4G radio together with core network jointly built by ZTE and Drei Austria has ranked best in a third-party network evaluation for the fourth consecutive time and was worthy of being named the best network in Europe,” said Xiao Ming, Senior Vice President of ZTE. “Now, ZTE and Drei Austria have completed the first batch of large-scale commercial construction of 5G networks in Europe and put into operation.”

At the event, ZTE conducted in-depth discussions and dialogues with well-known global operators, industry partners, governmental agencies and consulting institutions on topics, such as 4G/5G integration and evolution, 5G rapid network rolling-out, automatic and intelligent O&M and slicing operation.

In addition to ZTE and operators, many other well-known industrial organizations, industry partners and consulting companies also contributed ideas, suggestions and plans to 5G future development.

Moreover, ZTE launched multiple innovative products and solutions to fully support the global commercial 5G construction. The NR product series can provide full-band and full-scenario coverage. For instance, the 5G NSA&SA dual-mode radio and baseband units fully support the flexible selection and smooth evolution of the operators’ network architecture. Common Core implements full access and integration of 2G/3G/4G/5G/fixed networks, supporting SA and NSA at the same time, saving operators up to 40% on investment.

“We hope that through this event, together with customers and friends across our industry, we can tap into the potential of the existing network, push forward the practice of 5G industrialization, continue to explore new services and business models and create new value systems for the industry,” concluded Xiao Ming.

To date, ZTE has signed 25 5G commercial contracts and worked with more than 60 operators around the world on 5G, covering China, Europe, Asia-Pacific, Middle East, and other major 5G markets.
